QEII Conference Centre

Motorised dual shades for conference rooms in the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre

The renowned Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre is undergoing an extensive refurbishment programme to help retain its’ reputation as the leading inner city venue for hosting conferences and exhibitions.

The refurbishment includes replacing the exiting vertical blinds with a flexible solution that would cater for the wide range of activities the building is used for.

The blinds needed to be robust and easy to use for the thousands of visitors the frequent the building.

Waverley manufactured and installed ShadeTech RBL-G and RBL-E roller blinds with the majority of areas having two blinds at each window – one roller blind with a blackout fabric for room darkening and another blind with a 10% openness screen fabric that reduces solar glare but retains a view of the iconic London skyline.

The roller blinds are housed in a cassette to improve the aesthetics of the interior and multiple blinds are linked together to reduce the number of electric motors and crank rod mechanisms. This reduces the cost of the electrical wiring work and save time operating the blinds across the large open floor space.
