Merchant Taylors’ School – Recital Hall

Merchant Taylors' School - Curtains to Recital Hall

Merchant Taylors’ is an independent school for boys at Northwood, Herts,  founded in 1561 and catering for 1,100 students between the ages of 11 and 18.

Music is an important part of the school programme, with a number of concerts and musical events arranged each term. We were approached by Merchant Taylors’ School to help with providing curtains to the Recital Hall.

After initial survey and consultation, we supplied and installed DrapeTech curtains with pencil pleat headings to the stage wall and high level windows in the Recital Hall.

Wooden pelmets were made, stained to match the panelling, to conceal the Silent Gliss aluminium curtain track (a mix of System 3900 and 1080).

Because of the high level installation, we also provided an access tower for safe fitting.

The curtains were made up in Venus FR fabric from Edmund Bell in colour Dark Blue.  This densely woven plain fabric is 100% polyester and one of our most popular dimout fabrics, with good acoustic properties.  It is washable at 40° and can also be washed at 71° for thermal disinfection.  Venus is also OEKO-TEX® certified, so free from harmful chemicals.

“We are very pleased with new curtains supplied and installed by Waverley in the Recital Hall at Merchant Taylors’.

Waverley provided great service, from initial survey, consultation and quotation through to installation; they delivered quality curtains that met with our requirements.

We would recommend Waverley as a good, reliable supplier to the education sector.”
