Sidney Hotel, London

Curtains & blinds for London hotel refurbishment

A mixture of roller blinds, voile curtains and lined blackout curtains have been manufactured and installed by Waverley as part of a rolling refurbishment programme.

As hotels jostle for a share of the ever-growing demand for an overnight stay in London, modern, good quality soft furnishings play a big part in attracting and retaining customers. Located in busy Victoria, Sidney Hotel is now well placed to maintain a fully booked calendar as it nears the end of its investment in new curtains and blinds.

Waverley installed Silent Gliss 1080 hand drawn aluminium curtain tracks to all room where curtains were required. Covered by a 5-year warranty, the siliconized aluminium and nylon gliders will ensure smooth and easy operation for decades.

DrapeTech® pencil pleat curtains in Chenille fabric with blackout lining add a silky luxury to the rooms. The cream blackout lining not only provides excellent room darkening but also adds weight to the fabric to help the curtains to hang straight. Crescent shape tiebacks in matching fabric hold the curtains in place when not in use. A second curtain track fitted closer to the glazing holds a voile curtain to give privacy during the day without reducing the amount of natural daylight or impeding the outside view. The voile curtain has a continuous weight in the bottom hem helping it to hang straight.

All curtain fabrics used by Waverley are fire retardant to BS5867 regulations – a mandatory for any building where the public have access.

Other rooms in the hotel were fitted with ShadeTech RBL-C chain operated roller blinds to suit the more modern, minimalistic interior. Two roller blinds are installed at each window, the blind closest to the window has a translucent voile fabric to give privacy during the day whilst providing a view of the outside. The second blind is fitted with ThetaBlock® 30 polyester blackout fabric to provide adequate room darkening for sleeping.

All chains are installed with chain retainers to ensure compliance to BS EN 13120 regulations.

Waverley surveyed, manufactured and installed blinds and curtains to suit the hotel’s rolling refurbishment programme. Some phases were only three rooms, others more than ten rooms. The hotel appreciated Waverley’s flexibility and fair pricing as well as product advice that enabled them to get the best value out of their budget.
